i'll try to explain my self more clearly

maybe there is an option with dynamo to uncheck the visibility of some categories for multiple views (that are set on custom and not linked view) at once?

of course view templates will not help here

you can see here in the video the manual process that im doing now.

I need to edit the visibility graphic for each view to turn off the room color fill for example

<video-js data-video-id="6332604021112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

The best way to coordinate visibility/graphics overrides is setting display "By host view" in Revit Links tab. Doing this, you can be sure all elements of same category show the same, no matter if they belong to host or linked models.

Set links visibility as "custom" is pretty annoying because is a one-by-one proccess and so plenty of mistakes.

Display "by linked view" will show link as it was set in a specific view on linked model, so if you want to change link's view setting you must go to that view on linked model. Annoying too.

It's actually a simple process. A bit tedious at times but pretty straight forward and because they all contain different elements in different categories, often times we don't have to be selective about what not to show.

I can see how your method could be helpful for some but it is far from the the best for most.

Our links are used mostly for elements of different categories than we model.

It doesn't matter, you can change link visibility by host view anyways. AFAIK, all categories alwyas are available, so you can check/uncheck them.

Mistakes happen when you aren't careful. But I worked a lot setting links as "custom" and then realize that it has no sense, unless specific custom visibility was really needed. Conclusion: never was.

So, I put my vote on filters, and on view templates too. Don't see Dynamo as an option.

We simply need more direct control even if it means a little more work. Not using by host view isn't a guarantee for error. Most times we need to turn off select categories in links or, at a minimum, have them display differently from the host elements. If it works for you, fine. Saying it's best is far from accurate as I have never been able to use it at any place I worked.
