When using Elevation tags, if the sheet number is too long, it runs outside the elevation bubble. I'm ok with that, but when that label crosses the pointer, the text does not mask the pointer as it does in a section.

I think I already know the answer, but I'm throwing this out there just in case 😉.

The Elevation Mark Body/Pointer uses the Callout Head, a different annotation family than the Section Head. To match the behavior shown in the Section Head family, the tag label background setting would need to be changed to "Opaque" in the Callout Head family.

I opened the elevation marker family and copied the label. After pasting it, the label showed up at the top, and the text was visible.

@pkomatlapalli, Thank you for inquiring 😁.

Unfortunately, in Revit, the Sections and Elevations families function differently. A section family is one element, bubble and arrow in one Section Head family. The arrow is often a Filled Region in the Section Head family. An Elevation is a combined element, the Body and the Pointer are 2 different elements nested together. The Body is linework and labels, where the Pointers are a Nested element. This prevents the Opaque label setting from covering the Pointer in the Elevation.

Doesn't seem to be fixable. I tested the cut an pasting the sheet reference label in the marker to see if it had something to do with draw order in the family but it did not work.

It would be nice if the nested pointers had a property for draw in foreground/background.

It would be nice if all annotation families nested into other annotation families had this option.

@Mike.FORM @pkomatlapalli

What I ended up having to do to accommodate the client's naming convention was add the break to the Left and Right pointer families in the elevation to fake the Masking. I don't remember the exact project or id share a screen capture 😁. But luckily, their latest standard got rid of that naming convention.

But it is still a potential issue....
