Revit 2026.0.1's 'Attached Detail Group' tool's working command loose ability to be assigned shortcut key

What I found for Revit 2026.0.1 is that there is a missing CommandID shortcut for 'Attached Detail Group', whilst 'Attach Detail Group' is working fine as previous version e.g. Revit 2025 & prior.

For this workflow there are original 2x commandIDs that go with it, as below:

CommandName: CommandID:

Attach Detail Group ID_EDITGROUP_ATTACH_TO_GROUP

Attached Detail Groups Dialog_ElementGroup_EditGroupNew:Control_ElementGroup_EditGroupAttachDetail

Despite 'Attached Detail Groups' is still working in Revit 2026 BUT shortcut key CAN'T be assigned to it because its commandID is MISSING.

Both tools need to be working hand-in-hand, and if 'Attached Detail Group' can't be assigned a shortcut key the workflow could be handicapped and inefficient for projects that make use of attached detail groups, eg multi-storey apartments etc.

I am suspecting that the developer might have left out the commandID or accidentally deleted it.

May Autodesk look into this and bring back the commandID for 'Attached Detail Group' tool, so that a shortcut key can be assigned to the tool ?

Not sure if it is something wrong with the Revit 2026.0.1 that I used...but anyone else could give it some tests to find out if similar issue persist...

Hi RuogianLu, thanks for taking the query. However, Revit 2026.2 seemed to have not addressed that.

Remember, tool still exist in Revit up the whole life cycle but then tool suddenly can't be assigned a shortcut key, which is little strange & not helpful with mass who uses such tool.

On the other hand, whilst "Attached Detail Group" tool lost the ability to be assigned keyboard shortcut (lost commandID), Autodesk in Revit 2026.2 has opted to enable 2x legacy (existing) commands to be assignable with keyboard shortcuts. I find this strange why so Autodesk?

the 2x existing commands mentioned above are the following:

1. Go to View (commandID: ID_SECTION_GOTO_VIEW)

2. Move Aligned to Sheet (commandID: ID_MOVE_VIEW_ALIGNED_TO_SHEET)

I find it is not that much quicker for the command 1. & 2. above to be invoked by a key than the context mouse menu followed by letter "G" and "M" respectively, though it does give alternative options for them to be invoked.

My enquiry and request to Autodesk is that the commandID for "Attached Detail Group" need to be given back its previous commandID in order for it to be used via a keyboard shortcut...just like the 2x commands 1. and 2. above.

There are organization that extensively use Attached Detail Group in their, for example, high density multi-storey apartment buildings documentations, which make it an indispensable command especially for significantly large building complex. Therefore, without such keyboard shortcut access the workflow time could be increased substantially...which ultimately will affect the delivery capability of the organization.

With that said, the option for the organization is not to transition to Revit 2026 until such command issue is resolved by Autodesk.

Tested on Revit 2026.4 to see if the command "Attached Detail Group" is able to be assigned a keyboard shortcut.

Unfortunately, it is still CAN'T be assigned keyboard shortcut, despite the legacy command is available and active in the program.

Can this be reinstated for next version of Revit 2027, for this tool is used for big projects with repetitive e.g. unit types etc in most cases ?

A command invoked by a keyboard shortcut is quicker than mouse-clicking ribbon buttons.

As raised in the first message for this thread, it was found that the command "Attached Detail Groups" lost its ability to be assigned a keyboard shortcut.

Similar issue found for a separate thread as follow:

Both commands are still available to be used in 2026 but they cannot be assigned with any keys as it seemed they do not have commandID(s) associated with the tools.

It could unquestionably be a critical issue for some unknown commands at somewhere or at some point looses their ability to be assigned any keyboard shortcuts, which could negatively affect users in managing critical workflows for organization that may rely significantly on specific streamlining workflows. It is best not to be caught by such surprise.

Thank you again for following this through, and I would like to update this thread following some test on Revit 2027.0.1 released in Apr 2026.

It is found that the command ID for 'Attached Detail Groups' has been reinstated for Revit 2027 by Autodesk.

Revit 2027

CommandName: Attached Detail Groups

CommandID: ID_EDIT_GROUP_ATTACH_DETAIL

Revit 2026

CommandName: Attached Detail Groups

CommandID: accidental removal

Previously 2025 - 2014

CommandName: Attached Detail Groups

CommandID: Dialog_ElementGroup_EditGroupNew:Control_ElementGroup_EditGroupAttachDetail

Path: Contextual Tabs>Group

Much appreciated for the reinstatement of the command ID for 'Attached Detail Group', so as for the legacy command, (since Revit 2014) that is still available up to Revit 2027, to be able to be assigned a keyboard shortcut. If it was not this reinstatement this crucial command, that has been used for over >10 years, could have been severely handicapped for the modelling/documentation workflows particularly for the large multi-story projects.

P/S - having said that - there are still 'some' legacy commands that has loosed their command IDs in amidst of the ongoing rolling out of Revit versions, which I will point out in separate thread. Nevertheless, those legacy commands are not as critical as the 'Attached Detail Groups' that has been reinstated by Autodesk...however, Autodesk need to ensure that command IDs do not drop out when legacy commands are still being used in Revit. Such command IDs drop-out should not occur unless that command itself has been completely and officially removed from Revit due to it not being relevant and useful at all.
