Load Autodesk Families won't open

Anyone have this issue before? Any time I try to open the Load Autodesk Families browser it gets stuck trying to open and stays on this blank screen.

Firewall? Disable Firewall and try again. Does it work now? If so, it's related. Go from there.

It was solved by renaming the CefCache folder to _CefCache, thanks

1. Close Revit if it is running
2. Navigate to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk
Revit 2023\CefCache
3. Rename the CefCache folder from CefCache to _CefCache
4. Restart Revit and try Load Autodesk Family again

Hi, I was just wondering how do I locate the navigation tool to rename the CefCache ? I just recently came across the same issue within Revit when I clicked on the "Load Autodesk Family" I saw your solution but wasn't sure how find the navigate in order to find and change the tag. Thank you.

How do I locate the "Navigate to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk
Revit 2023\CefCache" within my computer. I have the windows 11 just wondering what do I type in the search or what folder do i look for within my computer. Thank you

I did as you have instructed, however, I still am not quite sure where to located things. Could you just list out a step by step starting from the file explorer part? I hate to keep bothering you, but I'm not very good with knowing how to edit things, it would be helpful to know a step by step. I would appreciate it if you could. Thank you.

i finallyyyyy found out how . you need to open a revit file like normal, then go to file (top left) and press "options" after that you go to "cloud model" then select "browse" after that a window where some files will come up and one will be labeled "Autodesk Revit 2025" press that one then on the bottom of the window you will see "file name" and it will have something like C: User/bala bla bla (ill attach pics) copy this and go to your file explorer and select Windows C: (drive), it will allow you to search the drive on the top right of the screen and just paste that file name in the bar, after that it will load the file "Autodesk 2025" press it and you will find a file name "CefCache" just rename it to "_CefCache" as you would normally rename a file. you will have needed to close revit so it can allow you to rename the file btwThis i the file name you need to copygo here in file explorer and paste the file name to the top right corner where it says search C: drive

I’m sharing this in case anyone is experiencing this with Revit 2026: it looks like the CefCache folder is either missing or renamed in this version. To fix the issue, simply delete everything in the Revit directory shown in the screenshot (the directory shown in the accepted solutions on this forum post for earlier Revit versions)and then reboot your computer. Revit will recreate the necessary folders on startup.

In my case, there wasn’t even a CefCache folder—clearing the entire cache directory and restarting did the trick.

Note to follow on this - the new file to delete in order to fix this issue is "WebBrowserControl" located in the same location. You can find this folder by entering the following into your file explorer window:

C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit

and selecting your version of Revit. The WebBrowserControl folder can be safely deleted, and will be regenerated the next time you load Revit, fixing the issue.
