Modeling Architecture and MEP in the Same Revit File – Best Template and Project Browser Organization?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a Revit project where I need to model both the architectural elements (walls, windows, roofs, etc.) and the MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) in a single model.

I'm wondering which Revit template is most suitable for this case:

Should I start from the "Systems" template?

If I use the Systems template, how can I best organize the Project Browser to keep a clear structure between the different disciplines?

Should the browser be configured by discipline?

How should I organize views, sheets, and view templates so that each discipline (Architecture, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC) is clearly separated and easy to navigate in the Project Browser?

Thank you in advance for your advice and feedback.

I use sheet collections to separate different discipline sheets. I created a "SUB-DISCIPLINE" parameter to sort views by discipline. i also use that parameter to filter out section views etc. (so the M-section views don't show in Plumbing etc.)

The template you can do whichever way you want.

I mostly model it all in one project because 99.99999% of the time I design all or only one disciplines (and even for one discipline like lighting, i need architecture).

You also could link the architectural model if you don't need to create A-sheets. But linking comes with other visibility issues. and creating a sheet set from a single project is so much nicer than doing that with multiple project files.
