Callouts...

Callouts seem to be one of those families in revit that just don't behave like the majority... I'm just trying to create a custom one but suffering some issues..

Please see attached image.

When I change the shape to a more rectangular one the leader still seems to want to follow the line of the original circle. I don't see any way of creating a completely new callout and as the callout is already in use in the model I don't really want to have to delete it. i've tried editing the Callout head family and also creating one from scratch - no joy either way.

Secondly the colour. Now this should be straightforward but nowhere that I can find is there an setting that lets me change the colour of the callout head. Even in the default OOTB RVT template the callout head is blue. Changing the setting in Object Styles makes no difference.

can anyone please point me in the right direction on how to fix this?

I also did not find a way to have the leader line 'snap' to non-round call out heads (since then sticked to round shaped ones). So maybe an oversight/bug?

The colors that they stay blue is only as it appears to be. The callout heads are a 'linking' element. That is why they appear blue on your views.

If you do a print preview you will see that it will take the color of the one in the object styles.

I realise you may already have "legacy" symbols, workflows etc. but the simplest solution to your issue is to accept the default callouts you get from Revit. They represent very well and do what they need to do, it is a waste of time (in my opinion) to try and configure stuff like this to suit old standards.

Hi Alisder,

In this case it's not legacy, I just find the shape a little impractical when you have longer drawing numbers.

Ultimately I can work with it as is but it just seems like another bit of REVIT that just doesn't perform as it should.

Enlist, thanks for the clarification. I'd never paid much attention to the colour before but good to know.

Has this issue been resolved at all? I am trying to do a similar custom callout for a client and having the same problem in 2021. There is just no apparent settings for where the leader starts, if I shift the family left I get a gap on the right.
