Curved Ceiling

I'm trying to create a curved ceiling using the in-place modeling tool, but the extrusion needs to be curved in section -- is there a way to achieve this? I would think this would be a simple action but I'm only prompted to pick a workplane in plan view. I understand how to do the actual modeling, but only once I figure out how to get the curve to appear in section.

Any help is appreciated!

Emily

You can use a Model in Place Ceiling:

Architecture > Build > Component >Model in Place >Ceiling > Name it -OK > Extrusion > choose as Work Plane - a vertical plane - a Grid or a Named Reference Plane.

if the shape is irregular in plan view (horizontal projection) , use Void (s) to trim the margins of the ceiling to fit the walls or the desired sides...

In the plan view create a Reference Plane and type in a meaningful name in its Name parameter. Go to your section view and click the Set workplane button, choose your reference plane from the list of named planes, it's probably at the bottom of the list. Create an extrusion by sketching the profile of the ceiling shape you need. It has to be a close sketch to create the extrusion. I created the reference plane in the plan view first, before starting the in-place ceiling in the image.

How would you make the curved extrusion fit the rooms in which you would like to place it? I was able to create the curved ceiling but I would like to edit it in plan view to account for the curved walls I would like it to extend to.
