Tagging in Legends..... annoys me today.

I know this have been repeated and repeated.
But can someone explain the logic?

Why cant we add a generic tag to a legend component type, when I can add a material tag to a single part of that same legend component?
It doesn't seem logical that I can tag the timber frame of a window but can't tag the entirety of the same window as W-101.
This is doubly strange considering that each window type has its corresponding legend component.
I understand why tagging instance parameters in legends will not work, but surely type parameters must be possible.

Normally this whole thing doesn't bother me, as we use the legend phasing work around. But when it comes time to train a new user, its so counter intuitive to explain that they cant use the built in legend views, which seems like the logical choice, because the information cant be coordinated. Instead they have to create some "invisible" walls and windows that may or may not exist in time depending on a little drop down box in the view settings, it's all just...... pathetic, really.

In a software that is supposed to be about coordinating data across all aspects of construction documentation to avoid mistakes, not being able to extract that data from a 2D representation of a 3D object is a bit silly.

Imagine the documentation possibilities that something so simple as tagging legend components will open up?

Tired of work arounds rant over.

Nothing more than he explained, it's for the documentation purposes only.
And I've just contacted the Revit dev team, they're already working on it.

Thanks Karam,
Its a feature I would love to see implemented.
Legend views could become incredibly useful for many things.

This has bugged me for years.

It's so frustrating and such a limitation on the program, and I guess so easy for Autodesk to fix.

I have been following this discussion in many different threads for years. We are really looking forward to being able to tag legend components intelligently with the Type Mark parameter.

All I want for Christmas is to not have to use Dummy tags to do this anymore.

They're working on it... for more than 4 years? Why this isn't even on Revit since the beginning? It's basic BIM for documentation purposes at least... texts to show parameters shouldn't even be allowed!

Please hurry with this solution!
