Variable Width Tags?

It would be really helpful to be able to adjust the width of a tag in the project...

No kidding. We need adjustable width for labels and text in families. I have like 4 variations of the same View Title with different widths it is ridiculous.

yeah, there's a few things like that... Tags on the whole could use a 2016 makeover I think...

I do this way:

one family = one (or set) of certain labels.

The width of the tag is a parameter.

Then, make some types for the desired length.

I'll tell you why this bothers me. We are currently migrating from AutoCAD to Revit and generally it's going okay. However one of the things that experienced CAD users find frustrating is when they have been able to do something easily in CAD and find that it just isn't as easy in Revit. In some instances this is just the nature of BIM (i.e. it wouldn't really make any difference what BIM package you use) and can be justisfied but others like this just make it look inadequate.

The result is that instead of using tags they just resort to using text which as we all know largely defeats one of the advantages of using BIM.

I don't want this to sound like a rant - it's not meant to be, but this is a great example of some of the basics that I wish ADesk would take the time to look at and sort out (text is another but I believe something might be happening there from reading other posts on here).

Finally I understood, what you want For this there is no solution except make, for example, 5 labels with widths 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, ... (or any other), and control its visibility with true-false parameter...

Completely understand you, this feature is needed strongly.

Forget about that, they will not, now it is mostly only marketing for side-products, not usability or practical engineering application.

Revit 2023, still no parameters for text/ label widths. Not even in roadmap.. pathetic..

2025 Still no width parameters, so crazy! I have been using Revit 2018 for the last, er 7 years as I own it and im a single user. I was finally convinced to upgrade, I am now using 2025 LT and for the most part theres some pleasant surprises, but this is still an issue. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Dev team offices, what do they even do in there??
