Make sure you set your fill pattern is set as a model pattern.. then you can select one of those lines and to a normal rotate. See if that helps.

Click Manage tab > Settings panel > Additional Settings drop-down > Fill Pattern-- you can select model pattern from there. You may have to create your own fill pattern.

I am having a problem with the direction that my custom materials are wrapping onto my furniture families. You can see in the attached image an example of how the materials are currently mapping to the objects. The angle of the fabric on the back of the chair with the rounded back is undesirable because the chair wouldn't be upholstered this way and it doens't visually match the direction the other stripes are running. On the other example, the green stripe on the wedge shaped chair, the stripes run in all different directions. Does anyone know how to change this behavior? Does Revit allow users to control this behavior?

In the Material Editor use a surface patern (model) and then use the texture alignment button.

Then in a hidden line view you are able to rotate / align this to your geometry

In the hidden line view I cannot rotate the model pattern. Instead the entire family is rotating. I can't select just the pattern to rotate it. And this doens't really solve the problem because I also don't want a surface pattern to appear on the family in hidden lines views because it clutters architectural drawings. I know I have successfully rotated model patterns before but I can't get it to work on this family. It is modeled as a revolve so the pattern is following the revolve and thus the lines are actually being curved even though I created a straight 90 degree vertical model pattern.
