hi, it works for me. you need to go to plan view > drag your beam to the middle of column > go to 3D view > pick your beam > join geometry > pick beam then your column then it will joined. hope it helps. thanks.

Just a thought, make sure both column and beam are the exact same material (grade of Concrete)

In an elevation you could add some ref planes and use them to cut the column as required.

@Anonymous

I am not sure why it is being complicated that much!!!

Beams and Column (Namely concrete ones) Join automatically as you draw them (an innate property Revit give to these elements). If you want it to join elsewhere or differently all you need to do is:

Set your reference planes Horizontal and vertical to create an intersections to refer to in the 3rd step

Use Unjoin to remove the Join envoked by default to the beam and column

Drag your beam to the intersection where you need it to join/cut

Re-apply join to columns and beams

Note:

The beam needs to be withing the bounding box of the Column... if it is too high above the column; the Join tool will not extend neither the column nor the beam. You need to adjust that using the handle controls or by adjusting Hight of the column in the properties palette

If the above helps; kindly mark this replay Accept as Solution for the reference of other forum members seeking the same clarification
