steps:

1. Create a Model line showing where your existing point cloud file should sit in relationship to your revit model data.

2. Use Manage Links and remove the old point cloud file

3. Use the Insert Point cloud file command to insert the new point cloud file

4. Move the new point cloud file to the exact position

5. Use the Rotate command to reorient the new point cloud file to the exact position

hii,

I am so glad I am participating in the answer day!!

I have modled a point cloud in revit? After a while, I have discovered that my point cloud doesn't work with my virtusurv plugin.

Now, I need to reinsert a new version of point cloud, but withoutn losing the modeling I made; meaning I want it to be inserted in the same place the old one.

how can i do that?

It's urgent, please.

when you insert a point cloud file into revit, it defaults to center to center. you can also choose origin. since your revit content does not move prior to reinserting your point cloud file, you should be able to insert it into your revit model in the same manner you did the original point cloud file.

you can also just create a model line that touches a revit object (grid line intersection for example) and the other end to a specific point in the point cloud file.

after you unload it, and reload the new version, you can move the point cloud file if necessary to that point of reference.

ensure "Select Links" is checked under the Modify command in the ribbon. Then select the old point cloud file and move it north for example by 500'. Then you can move the new point cloud files in it's proper position. Finally, use the Manage Links command to remove the old point cloud file from the revit file.
