This does not look like a rendering. It looks like a shaded view and is not the look and quality I am trying to achieve.

When I put the table not in an environment within the project, with an "image" set as a pure white color and render I get the attached image (1)and it looks awful. Looks cartoony and the materials and colors are off. That is supposed to be chrome. It messes up the lighting.

When I have it in a "room" walls and floors set to white and I have the "background" set to white it gives me gray. Image (2)

When I use the "transparent" background, it looks the same and I am not sure the benefit- ie my other question.

I am building a furniture library and need each piece on a solid white background. I need them rendered and photograph quality.

I cannot figure out how to make a pure white background. Everything looks brown or the sky blue of the environment. Even a white room doesn't looks white.

What is the trick?

You can obtain this if :

in Project, from View Control Bar >Isolate Element ( the Piece of furniture)

when Rendering > Background >Style > Color - White

if you want the shadows too,

then:

Copy to Clipboard the Isolated item

Paste it into a New Project

in the New Project , make a white material floor

render with White Color Background and then use Adjust Exposure to assure the background is pure white

I tried this. I made a white material floor and white background and it renders grayish brown. The sunlight changes the white. I've tried adjusting it and it is always not white.

Hi @Anonymous

I wanted to follow up on this post.

Can you send a screenshot of your render settings and share the model if possible?

I can send you a private folder if you like. You can also contact v-ray for Revit support team HERE

Looking forward to your reply update.

hello,

I am revisiting this 2 years later as I still have not found a way to do with without photo shopping the background white which always looks off.

Where do I find this "isolate Element" I go under "view"? and do not see anything like that.

I have a white color background set and it is just never white. Is it the lighting settings or what? Trying to find the trick as I see these types of renderings used everywhere.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, can you also share the model to test.

I'll do some testing on my end for a different model and see if there is anything different we can try to achieve the required result.

Regards,

I am not sure you are going to get a pure "white" background without using photoshop. That is just not how rendering works. You are going to end up with things being slightly "off" because the light is hitting at a different angel, something is slightly shaded etc... Getting everything except the object to be pure white is not possible. At least with the controls for rendering in Revit.

It kind of reminds of this old image (perhaps you have seen it?), "color" can be very deceiving both the squares in this image are the exact shade of gray, even though one looks really white. If you want to see, just cover up the joint between the 2 on the screen with your finger.
