I think the reason that it's not possible to use a structural deck profile for roofs, is because of the way roofs are generated ie. it has pitches in multiple directions or you can create roof by face/extrusion so then it's not nescessarily a section which would allow for the use of that. But since a structural deck is usually for flat roofs probably, you could just use a floor.

Is there any reason that Structural deck layer is available for Structural Floor but not Roof? How would one add a fluted deck without model a structural floor under the roof and deal with all the coordination problems, or model the entire roof a floor and miss all the roof-only features?

I suppose I would either:

1. Model a structural floor and then a roof right above it to account for other layers, or...

2. Model just a roof, and then in a section view use a detail region shaped like your deck pan to cut the right shape into the concrete layer.

I have been avoiding cutting the details across the flutes wherever I can. When it is a must I am doing number 2 and feeling like crap.

I feel your pain. Any chance you could do it as a structural slab, and then just modify a floor/slab schedule to filter the others out and rename it to read as a roof schedule?

That is one workaround I have also considered. Scheduling and classification are not really a problem. What nice about roofs is they can be generated based on some goofy looking mass surfaces. Structural floors can't.

Can the annotate "Detail Component" of the Deck section profiles be turned into a "repeating detail component"? If so, do you have a link on how to do so? That seems like a more usable tool than simply placing a single flute of decking at a time when detailing......
