"Autodesk Revit Has Stopped Working" unresolved error

Recently, I installed Revit 2015 R2 with UR14 in my Windows 7 Professional system, but every time I try to open the program to start using it, I instantly get an error message stating, "Autodesk Revit Has Stopped Working." I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired the installation 8 times straight, and even tried installing it in a fresh, updated VM of the same OS, and get the same problem. I've installed every available update, and nothing changes. I've tried R1 UR3, UR4, UR14, and currently R2 UR14 (which I have a subscription for).

A handful of other users have also had this problem, but it was officially never resolved. A prime example of a similar case is this: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-mep/autodesk-has-stopped-working-error-message/td-p/4969368

I found another case here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/autodesk-revit-has-stopped-working/td-p/5869376

(except this one has a different error message somehow)

Other references include:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Revit-crashes-when-closing-Revit-2015-projects-or-families.html

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture/autodesk-revit-2013-has-stopped-working-on-startup/m-p/3907343/highlight/true#M68710

http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?59461-RA-2008-won-t-start/page6&highlight=revit%20start

http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=33886

http://dimensiondrawings.co.uk/revit-stopped-working/

http://www.revitforum.org/mep-general/22444-revit-2015-wont-start.html

Many have speculated that the problem might be caused by outdated graphics drivers, antivirus, installation and/or activation errors, add-ins, temp files, or faulty registry keys, but none of these are accurate in my case. All my drivers are up to date, I tried the installation with and without AV, I uninstalled all relevant add-ins, I erased all temp files, cleaned my registry, and even ran a defragmentation process, but nothing changes. What's more my problem has NOTHING to do with licensing! There are also rumors that a Windows Update may have caused this problem, but this has never been confirmed.

There have been reports of this sort dating back to 2008, so the developers at Autodesk had plenty of time to fix this.

We, the users, have long needed a proper fix for this problem, but now I demand answers. I need a solution, and I need it YESTERDAY!

Probably some error with the setup file. Why don't you try some newer version?

The problem is with starting the program. Didn't you check the link I provided to the most similar case?

I'm disappointed that anyone would respond so soon, I was waiting for an Autodesk staff member to post a response, rather than a user that knows nothing about this rare, unique issue, and clearly didn't study the references. Every post is automatically entitled to a staff response if it remains unread for over 24 hours. Now I have to start all over again...

This is user based forum and not an officially way to contact Autodesk for support. Although Autodesk does monitor these forums, it doesn't mean they will see and/or respond to your issue at all. No matter if its been 24 hours or not!!!

Where in any of your postings did you have indicate you were a student.. How was I know this was a student license.

And what do you mean by this "No one, and I mean NO ONE, actually BUYS SOFTWARE anymore".. That makes no sense at all.. Are you doing something illegal? Like use a free version to do commercial work?

Anyhow.. All I can say good luck because no matter what people suggest to you, you come back with something that indicates you know everything and your system is just perfect... So good luck...

@Mark.Lancaster Okay, that first part was a simple mistake; I wrote the initial post late last night and I must have forgotten to specify I have a student subscription.

And no, I'm not doing anything illegal, I was simply implying that not everything has to have a fancy license to work. Anyone who knows their way around the system will find ways to make some programs work. I've never tried this before, and certainly don't plan to. Again, I have an active student subscription, and will be glad to provide proof. By the way, there is no "free version."

Finally, about your last statement, "All I can say good luck because no matter what people suggest to you, you come back with something that indicates you know everything and your system is just perfect," What the hell is that supposed to mean? Why does everyone believe in their heads that I'm the arrogant one? NEWS FLASH: I'm experiencing a rare, unique problem, and I prefer details! I provide a detailed problem description with references, and I expect a formal, tested solution from someone who understands what I'm talking about.

I never said my system is perfect, I only said that I tried everything I could think of. What's more, @Anonymous has suggested a registry edit similar to what others have speculated about, but different from the previous edit I tried, so I'll test this first as soon as I can and post the results.

people are trying to help and you are being rude to them. Unfortunately, i am getting the same error every time i close Revit 2017. At this time there are no formal, tested solutions. problems like this require some trouble shooting and people with the issue help with some trial and error. If i find something that works i will share it with everyone. Until then, i am open to suggestions.
