I’ve nested the letters Dp within a down pipe family, but depending on the wall I host it on, the Dp text displays incorrectly.

I’m well aware that in order for this to work, I need to nest 4x individual generic annotations within the down pipe family, and then rotate them individually to display corporeally.

To add to the complexity of the family, I would also like to control where I can potion the Dp text once imported in the project. In order for this to happen, I added shape handles to each nested Dp text, however what I've noticed is that even though the other Dp texts are switched off (using a yes/no parameter) I still see the shape handles.

Any way around this issue?

I did try adding the yes/no parameter to the Reference Lines that control the shape handles, but unfortunately that made no difference 😞

File attached....

Just to understand what you are trying to do exactly...
1. Are you intending to nest a new Dp family into that pipe family for every angle at which you might end up placing the wall?

2. Is the rotating text only to keep text readable?!

3. considering 1 & 2, is nesting a must?

4. If nesting is a must did u consider working with a rotation angle parameter instead of all those DP nested gen annotations

RDAOU, I did consider adding a rotation parameter with only one generic annotation representing the DP text. I haven't had much success with rotation parameters, are you able to give me a few pointers in the best way to go about it?

@ennujozlagam

Thanks for the compliment my friend

@tonkata

See attached revit files (you .rvt and .rfa modified)

Removed your generic annotations and left 1 only

Added a ref. plane at the center of the pipe and constrained it to pipe distance from wall

Add ref line and locked to the intersecting rep planes

Added length parameter for the ref line (to control Text offset)

rotation angle to control nested Dp text alignment

Nested Dp Text and aligned + lock it (vertically and horizontally) to the other end of the ref. Line

And your Dp text in the projects is now controlled using angle + distance (all other offsets deleted). I did add two text alignments

one that (ie: always up right on the screen)

and the second aligns text to wall where you are placing the pipe

See images below (you can choose either or)

NOTE: All parameters which I added (Pipe Family) are instance...if you want to switch them to type go ahead and do so ... otherwise leave them instance parameter and right click select all instances in view or project to change all at the same time … up to you (ps: no need to edit the Dp nested family leave that as is)

Sorry I do not have Screencast on this computer... If you need help with rotation angle we can do that later when I get back to the Office
