Do not set print to Raster under print settings then yoi can print mix of raster and vector views and sheets in the same print. I have never had any problem doing that.

In the Revit 2017 help link:"About Vector Processing and Raster Processing",there is the following sentence:

"If a sheet contains multiple views, Revit uses raster processing only for the views that require it. For other views on the sheet, Revit uses vector processing."

I wish it was true, because, every time I have one of the views with any shading/shadows, all of the sheet (with exception of anotations, dimentions, etc), becomes rasterized and blured. Even autocad x-refs.

Is it a bug? Anywone is having the same behaveor?

Thanks, ToanDN! That's exactly what I was thinking.

I'm planing to use a generic autodesk project to replicate the issue and send you, Riccardo, the rvt file and dwf outputs for your analisys, but haven't got the time yet.

Now about your last response: Very funny the fact that your link is from 2015 help file! (I though revit had compulsory upgrades by now... Why would you send me this link? What lead you to think we don't work with the most recent version?)

From 2016 onwards it's states exactly what I said and it's prety clear to me what it means, especially because autodesk chaged the text from the 2015 version that you send, so it clearly means that something improved sinse 2015, or at least it was intended to change...

Please let me know if the files I'm planing of doing are of any use to you.

Thanks anyway!

Hello again Riccardo.

Hope I'm still within the 4 work days...

So I finally got an hour to do the test file.

Attached I send 3 dwfs exports of 3 diferent views: one just with lines prints as vector; one with solid colors prints as raster; and one with solid color for the sky that prints as raster as well.

I did this 3 because somewhere I read that autodesk had made changes to make pdf/dwf prints to come as vector when solid colors (not graded shades) were present. Guess it didn't work...

I will continue the post in a second one because can't attached more than 3 files...

Cont. ...

So the plan now was to export a sheet with those 3 views and see the result. I would expect each view to keep the same aspect as before, the view with lines as vector ans the other two as raster, but no, all 3 view export as raster...

Is it normal? A sheet can combine vector and raster feactures (anotation elements allways export as vector) so there is no reason why we couldn't have vector and raster views in the same sheet.

I will send the original revit file I used so you can make your own testing if you like.

I will waiting for you feed back soon!

Best regards and have a nice weekend.

PS: if you can't see the diference between the 2 exports, just look at the tree lines of the black and white view in the alone and together files.

It gets pixelized and blured instead of a clean curved line...

Hi Susana,

This is Martin with Autodesk Technical Support. I promise I am not a bot, but I cannot speak for Riccardo. (BTW, my favorite robot of all time is R. Daneel Olivaw and it IS suspicious that the first names may be the same).

What you are describing is actually a known issue being looked at by our development team. So to answer your original question, YES, this is an issue that needs to be addressed. Here is a public article that can be monitored for a status change on this issue: Sheets: All views are printed with raster processing when some views should get vector processing

When there is a fix (or progress or resolution of some sort), the “Status” comment in that article will get updated. The only workaround at this time unfortunately would be to not mix those views on the same sheet.

I’m sorry for this hassle (and the earlier bot / 4 day countdown confusion). I hope this helps. I'm stepping out now to audition for Westworld.

Thanks, Martin, for the reply.

I tried to rechearch the web for this problem before posting anything here (this was the first time I ever did that), but couldn't find anything. Rechearch could be improved and the forum subgroups too, because I go confuse the first time.

(For the rechearch improvement, I think the link for that issue you send could be in the help page I send - pertinent information at the right place, I would say).

Anyway, just wanted to check one information I receaved.

Is this issued corrected in a new "update" about a week ago, or is still open? And about the solid color test I did. Is it suposed to export as vector, or that is still something impossible? (There was only one I forgot to test: making the backgound as an image insted of revit solid color... Could that do the trick?)

I will wait for your reply.

Thanks again, Martin.

Hi Susana,

The update for this has not been issued yet. As far as your other workflow idea, I don't think that will correct it, but you might want to give it a test to see how it works for you.

Autodesk posts/publishes thousands of articles and searching them can be hit or miss at times. I use Google extensively myself for searching for Autodesk articles and related blogs, websites, and whitepapers. When I do find a key article, I may bookmark it so I can find it again. And I even keep a running list of key articles using copy/paste. But with that said, I know Autodesk is continually working at improving findability of articles/information along with improving the search function.

it is a well known issue, and they have better priorities (like adding slanted walls...)

for the moment, when we really have to do it, weprint the sheet without the raster image, then print again with the raster images.. and then do the job of copy paste, in bluebeam or even Adobe InDesign.

Do not set print to Raster under print settings then yoi can print mix of raster and vector views and sheets in the same print. I have never had any problem doing that.

well not exactly for every case : for instance, try to print a mix of views and let only one of them in 3d with shadows...
