shared parameter and tags

Guys Hi,

What is the reason tags are restricted to shared parameter?

OK - i understand that shared parameters are external and can be used in families and other projects

but if one wants to manage internal tags, what's wrong with project parameter?

If you are creating a tag family that will read the value of custom parameter, your custom parameter should be shared parameter. Projects parameters are added to the project, thus when you create a new family you will not see the option to have this parameter inside the tag. The steps will be to add the shared parameter to the element(s) inside your project, then create a new tag family and make the label read that shared parameter.

Ok got it now

the reason is cause there is a total separation between custom project parameters and custom family parameters

and to solved this there is a need for custom shared parameter - YES?

After you create a shared parameter and use it for the family, you need to go add a project parameter (there you need to choose the already created shared parameter) to your desired category. So you will add a project parameter using the shared parameter instead of creating totally new none-shared project parameter.

If the parameters are not to be used by other families and only going to be used for schedules and view filters, you will not need to use shared parameters.
