Revit 2017 on Windows 10 via Mac OSX and Parallell desktop

I just installed Revit via Parallel desktop (Windows 10) on my Mac (OS 10.12.2).

As soon as I start Revit I get an error message saying that "An unresolvable error has occured ....".

I tried to follow the instructions found in https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-An-unrecoverable-error-has-occurred-no-need-to-recreate-recovery-files.html but I can't manage to solve this issue. I can't find the folder that I need to rename.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

the folder in question is a hidden folder by default. unhide this folder first and then proceed with the steps to repair your issue...

Thanks for your reply. I have unhid all the files and foldes but still can't manage to find the one called "Autodesk revit architecture 2017".

These are the files and folders I can find under C:\Users\Adam\Appdata\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit.

in your case it will be the "Autodesk Revit 2017" that article was for older versions of Revit

Did the installation give any errors?

Did you check if all updates for both windows and revit are installed?

Everything is up to date. I didn't recieve any error messages while installing Revit.

I'm going to try to reinstall it to see if that helps.

I've reinstalled Revit, checked to see that I have all the available updates and the problem is still there. I tried to rename the Autodesk Revit folder to "....Backup" and that didn't help.

Do you have any other tips or ideas that I can try?

When I start Revit I get this message - can that have something to do with it?

Could be...You are getting that Prompt message because the graphic card and/or its driver is/are not compatible with Revit...In my signiture below is a link to Autodesk's Hardware compat/requirements ... Check it out and verify if what you have installed meets the requirements.

You should be able to switch off Hardware Accel in the Options/Graphics too or check that box at the "Save Hardware Acceleration Settings" at the bottom of the prompt message so next time you start Revit it will run without Hard Accel

As far as I can tell, my Mac (Macbook Pro Retina mid 2014) isn't supported by Revit. That puts me in a bit of a trouble.

Did disabling the graphic accel fix your issue at least? I can see you can open and work with Revit already...In the OP you mentioned that you get the error as soon as you start revit now not.

It didn't help, unfortunately. The problem occurs when I try to start a new project or open up a existing one. So I can start revit, look through the settings and as soon as I start a project it crashes.

If try to check the box "Use hardware acceleration ...." I get the message saying that "Hardware acceleration disabled".

Ok! One last suggestion from my side...

Can you create another Window User/Profile and try working with Revit on that profile.
Check also the Windows Temp folder and clean it up %TEMP%

Also with Graphics disabled for a start

Agreed. Parallels only emulates the Windows OS inside the Mac OS. System-sensitive things like graphics drivers frequently don't work properly under emulation. Dual-booting with Boot Camp runs the actual Windows OS on the computer, giving full access to the resources. There may still be a few bumps but its the best option for hardware intensive programs like Revit.
