Alright, here how I've solved this. Zoom in and Zoom out won't really do the trick unless... YOU TURN ON TOGGLE/REVEAL MODE, THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR MODEL IS, ALSO RIGHT IN THE T/R MODE ADJUST THE CROP REGION, SO YOU WOULD CONFRONT THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN.
YOU'RE WELCOME!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to open up my floor plan, but it only displays the following:

I run into this problem every now and then and am not sure what the cause is.

Please note that Revit project has been modelled and is not just blank.

Has anyone else run into this occurring to there floor/ceiling plans. I am fairly new to Revit and am unsure of how to go about solving this issue, I have checked my visibility graphics, etc.

Appreciate any feedback or settings I should look into, to help troubleshoot this issue.

Kind Regards,

John

@Anonymous

What is causing this could be related to the Location of your model with respect to the "Startup Origin"

Your screenshot shows a view zoomed to extents with the Project Base Point ans Survey Point set way too far off from each other. NOTE: THIS DOESN'T MEAN ONE MAY NOT DO THAT...One can set the Project Base Point 1000 miles away from the Survey Point but while doing that, one Needs to make sure the Project Base Point and the Starup Origin (or Startup Location) do not get displaced further than 10 miles from each other.

Revit has a Limitation of 20 Miles Radius from the Start Up Location...if your Project is modeled further than that Point, you will have hard time controling it one example is:

You can't seem to find your Model on the Screen when you crop view (because your Project falls outside the Crop Region)

You can't seem to find the model on the Screen when you uncrop view (because is it way too small to see when you zoom extents

After you find the model and align the crop view to it, you save, you clode Project and reopen or simply Change to Project North then back to true North... You can't seem to maintain that Model inside the crop view!!! the view is empty again

and so on...

To verify the above...Please do the following

Mark the Location of the Project Base Point with a Model Line

Select the Project Base Point and unclip it

Right click the Project Base Point and select "Move to start up Location"

IF you observe that the Project base Point got relocated to a far Point from where it was:....Your life is gonna be getting harder!!!

IF you observ that it did not move too far away; then your life is good and it is an easy to fix issue

right click on the drawing area of the view and click to 'zoom to fit' it might be because of the location of your drawing in relation to the base point.

@Anonymous

You do realize that "zoom to fit" as well as other Zooms take into consideration all elements which are visible in the view? Including the survey point too?

You do also realize that hiding the survey point and project base point might just enable one (if lucky) to fit the model to screen but doesn't solve the problem? Well unless one is a big fan of Mizaru, Kikazaru and Iwazaru

I hope you do 🙂

by using the zoom to fit command he would know if it is a problem of location where the model was drawn in the view if not he can always try other ideas. And this will only take a second. I guess we will know when owner of the post replies

Sedat: I think we're left to guess what the problem was.

My guess is that Rob is correct. The Project and Survey point are so far apart that you can’t detect the modeled elements in the view because they’re the size of a pin-point on the screen! It’s kind of funny, actually – a potential gag you could play in the office. If you want to mess with a co-worker, set the PBB and SP miles and miles apart from each other. HA! I love it!

@Anonymous

Wrong. Zoom to fit isn't a method to identify an issue with the project's setting out points because Zoom is affected by the status of view's visibility graphics. The only way to identify that issue is either by resetting the PBP or using a relative spot coordinate at the project base point.

Edit: when and if he replies 🙂 you can maybe help him fix the issue if the above is the case

I think you're missing the point of my exhibit, Sedat. Everything IS to scale in the exhibit's view. You can't see the model because zoom to fit zooms all the way out to include the Project Base Point and the Survey in the view, which are miles and miles apart from each other. Analogous to trying to see your house on earth, looking from space. Whether or not this is John's particular issue; I don't know. Like I said: I'm offering one explanation.

I agree your explanation. I offered using zoom to fit not as a solution but as a simple way to understand the problem which I think is the distance between the PBP and SP. And I asked for an objet (Lety's say 100 metres long wall) on the last screenshot he sent to be able to see this distance between them which is basically called a scale figure. I am not talking about the view's scale.

I apologize for my lack of communication, this is a work project and I've had to work on other areas not revolving around the Ground Floor.

@ToanDN: I've checked what you mentioned. Still no results in the same.
@Anonymous: It's the original (clean) plan view with the default view range that I use as reference when I need to alter for high level or low level services. I haven't changed it as a result, but I'll check and alter it to see if it has any effect.
I've also turned off crop region and visible in view but results are the same.

It is odd how the views I have duplicated from it are displaying, just not this particular view.

@RDAOU: I wasn't the initial employee who began the project so i wasn't sure how this was setup.
However following your instruction, the project base point didn't appear to have moved upon zooming in it was a minor displacement.

Turns out it was zoomed out way too far, the previous guy who set it up didn't do the Project base point and survey point close to each other as RDAOU mentioned.
As you can see in the image I had to zoom in about 7 times into the region to get this.

Quite ridiculous. As the other image shows the difference of the base point relative to the survey point.

Appreciate all your feedback.

Cheers guys.

YOU TURN ON TOGGLE/REVEAL MODE, THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR MODEL IS, ALSO RIGHT IN THE T/R MODE ADJUST THE CROP REGION, SO YOU WOULD CONFRONT THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN.
YOU'RE WELCOME!

P.S. SOMEHOW, THERE WAS A ROOM TAG OUTSIDE THE MODEL.

ZOOM ALL, (Double click scroll)
SELECT THE BLANK REGION OF YOUR SCREEN
IF SOMETHING COMES OUT, CHECK AND DELETE!
DONE
