Before depth cuing was available there were 2 workarounds to introduce some sense of depth on elevation drawings:

1. Create a white filled region to mask elements you want to appear faded and override the transparency of the filled region

2. Create an in-place component that sits between the elements in plan and extends beyond the crop of the elevation. Then apply transparency to that 3d element

The second option saves you time from masking things like railings etc.

Hope this helps

I am trying to present the below drawings but need to show the buildings that are current as faint definitions. So looking on my plan they are the 2 buildings at the top and the brick one on the right. I have tried Depth Cueing but that seems to only affect the house ( building at the back on the right of plan ). If I mess too much I end up with everything faded, or sometimes just the top of my red roof starts to disappear.

Is there any way I can set it so these 3 buildings are not a dominant in the views? I have tried them at Half Tone but that doesn't seem to do much, and even tried Transparency but then I ended up with a mess of wall lines as you see everything.

Any ideas guys?

I'm not really any good with Photoshop (must learn I guess) but maybe that is my better option?

This is not Depth Cueing technically speaking.

You should have modeled the existing buildings and structures under Existing Phase then you could use Phasing graphic to control there tone.
