Ceiling plans are looking up so make sure the cut plane is lower than the top of the interior walls if you want to see the walls cut, and lower then the finish of the ceiling so that you are not looking at the plenum above the ceiling. Again, turn on Underlay to see the element below the view range cut plane such as low partitions, floor furniture, etc...

Hey everyone!

Starting to learn Revit from scratch, and I've been following these tutorials online, and have followed along with each one and the results have worked out as they should!

I've started working on my own project, and has worked out relatively fine until now, when I've come to do my ceiling plan (add lighting, cables etc.)

My project follows the layout of an existing building and I have modeled it as such - I have uploaded an image of the buildings structure for you too see.

When selecting Ceiling Plan from my list, I'm just given a blank page with no layout view. I've followed it exactly how I did following the tutorials and I can't seem to figure out why I have a blank screen.

Is it because of the levels of my structure? I have two levels (minus my ground floor level) which mark to top of the smaller roof level and the higher one.

Any help with this would be amazing as it is pretty much my last thing to do on this project before I begin plotting it.

Thank you!

- Check the view crop region of the ceiling plan view and make sure it is not outside of your building.

- Check view range and make sure the cut plane is under your ceiling

- Turn on Underlay so that you can see the floor plan elements for reference.

Ok, I've looked into my view range settings under Ceiling Plans and had a tinker around with it. I have now managed to get it to display the outline of my building, yet, it doesn't display the rooms inside of my building... even after selecting wireframe.

What am I missing now?

I am very sorry, but I am going to have to ask you to move your Properties palette to the left side of your screen like a normal, sane person. Revit isn't Photoshop.

Great answer! But no, I'm in the USA.

I'm curious how you get your list of emails over to the right of the preview pane. Or how you use ANY software that has hierarchical organization from left-to-right. Maybe you were dropped on your head as a child like the Adobe coders were?

Regardless, the forum admins will ban you if they find out you're not conforming on this very important matter. Don't worry...I won't report you. But be careful posting screenshots.

I still have the Outlook/Gmail email list to the left side. The AutoCAD properties palette is to the left as well because you just reminded me to check. So you cannot call me an Alt-righter after all ha ha... Guess I just left the properties panels where I felt right.
