Yes, I can add a custom scale to the viewport, but I can not add a custom scale to the Model Line Weights.

Thank you for your help but I may be going about this whole thing the wrong way. I will keep trying.

Keeping Same Lineweight with Differing Scales?

Greetings Community,

How do I keep the lineweights of detail lines constant (visually) with different viewport scales?

I have been in the process of producing maps for a Master Planning Project, and yes we are using Revit for this, no turning back now!

Everything is going great with One Big Exception.

For example: I have a map (floorplan) viewport at 1" = 1200'. I draw a boundary line around the property perimeter with a detail line of weight 10. Good so far. Then I have a legend viewport at 12" = 1' (we choose this scale so that the dimensions we use are equal to the paper space, so that our little filled boxes in the legend are not hundreds of feet long). However the same linetype used in the map that we now use in the legend is ENORMOUS. The current workaround is to eyeball the line in the legend to appear the same as on the map, this is not accurate though.

I thought detail lines were considered annotations and would not change based on scale used. please correct me if I am wrong.

Any help would be appreciated. I will supply pictures if needed.

Thanks

Hi there,

If you go in to the Manage Tab > Settings > Additional Settings > Line Weights

This then gives you a list of all of the thicknesses in each scale of drawing.

Hope this helps you out 🙂

When you open the Line weights tab you'll see a list of numbers on the left, numbered 1 to 16.

If you want to change how thick your lines are to relate to these thicknesses, just go in to the same Additional Settings > But go on LINE STYLES.

This gives you a list of all your different line weights with the same numbers I previously mentioned. Just select the number you want to make the line that thickness.

I have been attempting to alter these to see if changing them seems fruitful. However, if Detail lines are considered annotations, then seeing as there is only one column for annotation line weights they should not change based on veiwport scale. If Detail lines are considered to be in the model line weight tab, I am unable to make a custom column for the scale I am using (1"=1300'). I can create one for the legend (12"=1').

So I guess I am confused on how to set up a model Line weight column for 1"=1300'.

Thanks for your input.

Unfortunately these are the only scales I think you can add in the list, unless you have an additional option because you have a 1:1300 scale sheet.

Yes you are, I'm not sure if you can add a custom scale on the line weight option, it would definitely be useful!
