Tab-Click at one edge of the wall/window in a plan / reference view. The opening object is a line. The tool tip / Properties will tell you that you have got it. Once you have it, go to a front / back view, and edit the profile to whatever you want it to be.

Hi all, I created a new window family with an arched top and when I use that family in my project, it isn't cutting walls properly. The opening in the wall stays horizontal. As far as I can tell, I edited all of the edges properly to arches and the family editor views all look perfectly fine. I'm stumped. It seems, after some googling, that I should edit either the void or opening object but I can't seem to find that anywhere. And when I select everything in the entire family editor and filter the results, no opening or void objects show up at all.

Also, I've been using Revit for going on 4 days now so please forgive any naivety.

You need to select the Opening Cut in the family and edit its sketch to match the arch.

I can't select an opening. Even if I select everything in the entire window and then filter results, there is no opening cut.

Maybe you should share the family.

I actually figured it out. It was made with a void extrusion instead of an opening. I had to hide the outer layers of the window (frame, mullions, etc) until I exposed the voidextrusion object. Then I could edit that to the arch shape.

But that doesn't explain why the voidextrusion wasn't showing up in the filter list nor why it appeared correct in the 3D view of the family editor?
