Metal panels using curtain wall

Hello All,

I have been given a model that uses curtain walls as metal panel accents. The drawing was used for presentation purposes, which looked good.

Now I have to create construction drawings with this and here is my problem - the "curtain wall" (that they used) cuts through the stacked wall therefore leaving a "hole" in the wall when I do a section view.

So, can I have that curtain wall not cut through the wall or will something else need to be done (any tips).

Edit the CW type and uncheck Automatically Embed.

That did not work....does it matter that it is in a stacked wall? (BTW I'm using REVIT 2015 if that is an issue)

EDIT:

I did work - I moved the cw out of the wall then placed it back to where it was and then I had the error warning----

Highlighted walls overlap. One of them may be ignored when Revit finds room boundaries. Use Cut Geometry to embed one wall within the other.

So yes it did work but that is not the result I was looking for. Now I have a wall inside a wall, and in order to view the cw metal panel I have to move it outside of the stacked wall just enough to see the cw.

If you want the curtain wall only cut the stacked wall behind it partially, then you need to create an in-place void the same size as the curtain wall and use it to cut the wall.

Well, which is it? A window wall sitting in a opening? Or just an accent panel mounted on the surface?

The construction detail from the manuf. that I have is a panel in place of the brick. So in that area instead of brick, there are ACM panels, basically from the accent strip at the bottom up to the parapet cornice - an accent panel in place of the brick, not mounted on the surface.

As ToanDN commented, I will need to create an in-place void behind it ( which I have never done....)

or was there a better way in creating this type of construction / element / component? (for future reference) I know that this was created on the fly but I want to know if it could have been done better / easier.

If so, I would like to know, so it can be shared among others in the office.

Create the void should be quite simple, see screencast.

If you are not comfortable create in-place void to cut the wall, then keep the curtain wall automatic embed to cut the wall like you had before, then create a thinner wall to fill the hole. Do not join the thin wall with the thick wall.

AHA! Now I get it. You do want the panel to cut out the brick, but not the other wall layers behind, right?

Either a void to just just the brick, or another wall type without the brick placed in the hole behind the panels.
