Hi, @Anonymous, does either user receive an error message or warning? If so, what does it say? Can you post a screenshot?

Also, please ensure that all team members are working on Revit with the latest updates installed. You can find any available updates on your Autodesk Account Management page at manage.autodesk.com

I'm not sure where to start.

Our office has 12 people that work in Revit (2016) everyday. We work with central files through local copies on each computer. All of us in the office can work on files together, except ONE. This one co-working has to work on his projects as stand alone files from the server because the minute one of us gets into his file (the central file) his computer will not let him work on it or save it. We have tried to open "local" copies on his computer but once they are open he can't work in them or save them.

Has anyone else had this problem? How do we fix his computer so we can help him with his projects and not cause him trouble?
Thanks

Its most likely not Revit. Try the following:

1. Have this user go to another PC and log in with their network credential, cut a local and try to work. If this works the issue is their PC.

2. Have another user log into this users PC with their network credential, cut a local and try to work. If this works the issue may be the users (one that cannot work in a local) profile.

3. Clear out the Temp folder on the issue PC/user. Windows search, enter %Temp%, open the resulting folder and delete all. Its best to restart the PC first, then clear the Temp, then restart and test Revit again.

4. You may have to flatten the PC as a last resort.

Let us know the results.

Sounds like a user profile issue.....

Sounds like someone has Write Access only to the directory.

Meaning if that person creates a project for the first time, they will always have access. If someone else creates it, then they can read, but cannot save.

Save a word document in the same directory with some text in there and exit. Have that user with issues try to open, edit and save that file. If they cannot save, it is a permissions issue.

I have seen this a few times where the person, or their workstation, were not a member of the proper security group.

@Anonymous

Do this....go to your P: drive directory you are having issues with.

Right click the folder and select Properties

Go to the Security tab and click Advanced

Click on the Effective Permissions tab and click the Select button.

Type in the user's name in the box and click Check Names...when found click OK

Check the permissions...Should have access to pretty much everything.
