topic Unable to find or install Revit Content Libraries 2018 in Revit Architecture Forum

Hey there. I'm new to Revit and I've been having some trouble getting it installed properly. I downloaded and installed it three times now and I faced the exact same issue every time. I've tried both downloading and installing it separately and the 'install now' option from the site. Also, I uninstalled and installed it according to the instructions provided by Autodesk on 'how to complete a clean install and uninstall'.

The problem is, since I couldn't find the content libraries that should've been installed with Revit, I tried going to 'add or remove programs' > Revit Content Libraries 2018 > and then doing the process of installing the libraries I needed. But the Content Libraries show as 'unavailable', so it's impossible to even click on the modify or remove options. I'm clueless about where to go or what to do to get it installed. What is even weirder to me is that every time I installed Revit, it said the Content Libraries were already installed, but still I can't find them anywhere.

I attached a screenshot of the notification I get when I open Revit and another of the Content Libraries showing as unavailable in the 'add or remove programs' window.

I don't think that makes a difference, but I'm using the student version on a mac running windows 10.

Thanks in advance,

-IC.

hi Icarocoppio

Did you check the options? Check "File-Options-File Locations-Default path for family templates files:". Then, click the "Browse ..." button to specify the installation path (the default path should be "C: \ ProgramData \ Autodesk \ RVT 2018 \ Family Templates \ English"). If you do not have C: \ ProgramData, disable the Hide Folder button in the Windows folder option

- Kamiel Lee

I tried that but still I can't find the libraries. There isn't a folder named 'Family Templates' inside the RVT 2018 folder.

Actually I did do what I believe is a thorough search before deciding to post this. To be honest, I've been struggling with this problem for days now and nothing seems to help. I read multiple threads on this community as well as a few pages on the Autodesk knowledge network, including the one you mentioned. I even removed windows and installed it back again on this machine.

I haven't been a Revit or Windows user to this day but I never imagined installing a program could be this complicated and nerve-wrecking. It won't even let me uninstall something without crashing or encountering some sort of error.

When I installed 2018 earlier this year, there was a separate download for the content. It was available through a check box that came up during the install process.
