No render from the light

Hello,

Let me apologise first as I am going to ask you guys a really old question. I am not getting any light out from the render. I am attaching the REVIT file, could any of you please have a look at what is happening to this particular light fixture. It is a floor lamp and the material is a diffuser.

First of all, I could not find any diffuser material in the library and then what ever I do, I just can get it work.

...Got it now. Wouldn't download initially. Got to find a 2018 workstation now. So it'll be a further delay in getting back to you.

Nothing wrong with it, Light Source Definition just needs some tweeking (e.g. Shape and Distribution). Pick "Circle" for Emit from Shape and "Spherical" for Light Distribution.

...I'm surprised it didn't come with an IES file. Might want to load one. Doesn't have to come from this Manufacturer.

I just reloaded it and you're absolutely right: it has one. But the bottom line is that you don't like it. So, correct it. It's up to you.

Ahh, no reply. Betcha you wondering if I'm right. You're probably thinking this light should be correct as is.

Well, try this little test: Load the lamp into a project. Put it in a very, very small room....three walls, ceiling and floor...with wall just a couple of inches clear of the lamp. Now render the scene, looking at the lamp from the side of the room without a wall. See how brilliant the light is now? Looks good, huh? I think you get my point now. Right?

Hello,

I saw it , but the effect I am after is translucent shade. I am attaching the photo of the luminaire specsheet and I don't know what material should I add to get this effect. Please note the effect of the luminaire in the night pictures.

The present shade is already translucent, as evidenced by this render of the lamp without any shade on it.

You missed the point: the translucidity of the shade is not the issue.

Hello,

Sorry to reply so late. But I tried that and I don't like the look as I am after some glow from the luminaire and not being able to get it so far. I have the photometry and the material as mentioned in the website is "White sandblasted translucent polyethylene diffuser".

But I end up getting ....

with no glow at all. Would you be able to suggest on the material which could give the desired render.

Hello Bradley,

I also tried with the generic photometry and the look is similar but then again, I have the photometry and when I use the photometry, the render is so suble that it seems there is no light from the fixture at all.

dude, have you though about just adjusting the brightness. I mean the whole thing looks a bit dim. Reminds me of my bar days. Ha!
