Control Hatch Pattern Line Weights

Hello,

I found this being posted by number of people and a lot of answers marked as solutions. But they don't seem to work.

Hatch patterns seem to be understood as taking a default pen width 1. So While playing around for changing these hatch weights, I changed all pen 1 widths to 0.5mm, for all scales, in Manage > Settings > Additional Settings > Line Weights > Model Line Weights - Perspective Line Weights > Annotation Line Weights.

Nothing seems to change hatch pattern or cut surface pattern line weights. Could any sage help?

in this example i duplicated a Filled Regions Pattern and changed the Line Weight basded on its assigned number 1,2,3,4

now the original Pattern Diagonal Crossed Hatch (default will remain as Pen 1)

Diagonal Crossed Hatch 2

Diagonal Crossed Hatch 3

Diagonal Crossed Hatch 4

simply duplicate your chosen Pattern rename it and change the line weight, is this not working for you?

are you using Model Hatch or Drafting Hatch?

there should be no need to change the lineweight settings in your model to change the result for Filled Regions,

unless I am missing something?

Check if you have activated thin lines.

I'm kinda new at this but I have noticed that some materials us pen 1 and others use pen 2. I do not know how you would assign a pen to a material.

Just a small clue.

materials are IMAGE based

Drafting fill patterns are based on the scale of the view.

Model fill patterns are based on the actual dimensions in the building model.

all filled regions can be assigned a line weight , color, tranparency or Opaque in thier properties

@kadmonkee, It certainly works in Fill Patterns, when gone in Annotate > Detail > Region.

What I am looking for is object hatch patterns. For e.g. Wall Cut patterns, as shown in the attached image.

The only way that I guess to override this is modifying the linework and pattern in VG or modifying the Object Style, but in both cases I havent seen any option to set the lineweight for patterns.

if you select the wall / edit type / Structure (edit button)

on the Materials column find the material you want to modify.

select the material button to bring you into the Material Browser

when you select the cut pattern it is reading the Drafting fill pattern - duplicate and rename this and change the properties to a hevier line weight and apply it here.

any modifications you do here will effect all of your Model using this particular Material.

maybe duplicate and customize for testing

@Anonymous you are correct. The only way to control the color / lineweight of a fill pattern would be to create it accordingly. Annoying, but true.

Try changing line weight 2. Through the material the only way to change the line weight is to change the color or the grey scale. Materials all have the same line weight.

To achieve the appearance of varying line weights for similar patterns:

I think what is being suggested is to re-create the pattern. Copy the pattern to a new file. Add lines to the pattern that are so close together that they print as 1 line.

the Fill Pattern you are using to make the BRICKWORK is a Fill Pattern

change the line weight of THAT Fill Pattern.

I have assigned the Fill Pattern of "Diagonal Crosshatch (Drafting) as my BRICKWORK Fill Type.

edit the Fill Pattern that is Part of the Material.

There are no hatches in Revit.

I beg to differ.

Fill Pattern is not Filled Region.

What you show is how you change the line weight of the Fill Pattern of a Filled Region type. You can have different Filled Region types using the same Fill Pattern but with different line weights. That has nothing to do with the Material Pattern line weights.

No you can't.

Again, Fill Pattern do not have any specific line weight. Only Filled Region types do.

No worry. These terms are quite confused and can be easily misunderstood. Same as line styles/ line patterns/ line weights.
