Hi everyone,

I have the following problem, after setting our exterior wall thickness to 550 mm our energy consultant says we need to add 50 mm more insulation, so I went to "Type" to modify the structure of our Wall Type, but when I do so then I loose all the references to the walls (dimensions, notations and stuff) and the Windows get erased.

Any suggestion about how to deal with this? I have 249 windows, so I want to spare the Time doing every and each windows individually again

Your wall has a baseline.

Mostly it wil be on the inside of your 'outer layer'

Perhaps your windows/doors are linked to anything other then this baseline.

Fix it to make sure the window works for various thicknesses.

Unfortunately I can't share the File (politics of the Company) until now it seems to be the problem you are pointing out. For some reason I can't set a value for "Inset" greater than 299 mm when changing the wall thickness from 550 to 600 mm, since the windows were set to "Inset = 300 mm" they disappear with the new wall thickness.

The good thing is that with the new wall thickness I need to have a smaller "Inset", so it works around. I'll try tomorrow to fix the "Inset" in the Family, so we can learn if the problem was that.

Thanks for the answers!

Can you just set the windows to be in the middle of the wall?

So, I couldn't go completely through the work to correct this (matter of time, we will do it later) but the problem seems to be the window family, as you pointed by @Erense and @ToanDN the problem lies in the baseline of the wall related to the one used in the windows family, the default value limit the value that we wanted to set in the project. The windows were erased because they didn't comply with the conditions to set them into the wall after modifying the wall thickness
