Create arrow-dimension

Hello!

I'm trying to create a dimension in Revit with just an Arrow and the text. No leader line apart from a short line under the text. I have drawn how I want it to look. Thanks!

Instead of using a dimension, create a line based detail family with label reading the line length and symbol as what you want.

Thank you! Is that the only way it can be done? I think I have used one template a long time ago where I could choose Annotate, Aligned and then I just chose a type that worked just like I want now. If I do it like you say, where do I find the detail family in the project and is it used like a ordinary dimension?

Actually you can use a custom Ordinate dimension type.

Ok! Do you know which settings I should use to get it to work like I want? I have tried to customize but it’s pretty complicated. I have also tried to Google it without any luck. The main problem I have is that I don’t know how to get the text placed to the side and to cut the leader line so it just have one end. Thanks!

Is there any way you could check the distance so that the text gets the desired offset from the "witness line" directly without having to move the text manually, and connect the length of the "dimension line" to the length of the text.

Maybe use a line based detail family so you have more control of the graphics.

Thanks for the video! It's really useful.

May I ask if you know if there's a way to automatically move the text further to the left, as you did manually on the video? I saw the option to give it vertical offset, what I'm asking is if there's a horizontal offset setting somewhere I'm not seeing.
