Inconsistent lighting fixture render

Hello all:

I am using the identical recessed can lighting fixture in two different models. In short, the fixture renders correctly ('illuminated' and throws light) in one model, but not the other. The render settings of the two models are identical, and the lights are turned 'on' as part of that setting for both.

A basic draft mode render or a cloud render yields that same confusing and frustrating result. How is this possible?

Any help is appreciated!

this is best analysed by looking at the actual file. But, if guessing is acceptable; I'd say something is blocking it out.

Not 100% sure what you mean by 'blocking it out'? Something physically? Sorry for my ignorance on this subject.

If it's the same lighting fixture family in the same ceiling family but in two different models (working in one, but not the other), it just defies logic to me?!?

I'm not a 100% either. No worries. But, yes, I was guessing a physical obstruction. Might change my mind though, if I saw the file.

Did you figure out the problem?

I was referring to the RVT. The RFA sounds like it's working properly.

Create a section and tun on "Light source" under Lights Fixtures in Visibility Settings. This will show you if you have something in the way.

Also, include screenshots if this does not solve it.

Nope. Not yet really.

I've found another lighting fixture family which 'works' as far as rendering is concerned, but I don't care for the way it appears graphically in technical/construction drawings.

you can always change it's geometry. The light source is separate from the geometry.

Okay, I followed that path (and understand why it's important now!) but it did not change the results. Not sure what you're referencing by "in the way"?

Yes, I suppose. However my family modifying/creating skills are not terribly strong. 😞

So frustrating that the fixture I want to use works in one model, but not another!

...okay, easy enough to solve: just load the "good-behaving" family into the project you want it.

If you want to upload both the project and the families (both the one that works and the one that doesn't) to this forum; I'll figure it out for you. But, if I do, you got to promise me that if @ToanDN sneaks in here, after the fact, and offers the same solution -- you'll still give me the credit; not him. Deal?

Model in which the fixture is not working properly (Celeron) is attached; as is small screenshot identifying said fixture family. The view that I've been fiddling with this render is '3D View 13'.

Model where the fixture IS working (Test lighting) is also attached.

I'm working on it. But something is blocking Light Source, no doubt. I have already established that. Just tracking it down now.

..just to confirm something with you: go into the family an delete everything but the Ceiling Opening and the Light Source, and then load it back into the project and render a scene. Are you pleased with the amount of light being projected?
