Good day all,

I am setting up some conceptual drawing templates for our office, and ran into this issue. Families directly adjacent ie attached to walls seem to override the wall cut line in terms of priority when rendering the view (not sure whether it prints that way yet). The families in the view are cut, but still. The wall should have priority. Does anyone know how change this / solve this issue?

*EDIT: Turns out the families the office has been using up till now where drawn using symbolic lines, which have a higher draw priority than walls. Converted them to model lines and no more issue.

Modify the family so that there is an offset from the host wall. Or just convert the problem line(s) to invisible lines or black lines with the linework tool.

Your families can use categories and sub-categories and then associate the elements in your family with them so that the edge that will be shared with a wall will use the same lineweight. A filled region for example can use a different line type for each line segment it contains.

Also...try printing it out. Usually the heavier line will win anyway.

Unfortunately the problem is wat too pervasive to use the linework tool. Too many families where this happens. And unfortunately the offset doesn't read correctly at various scales.
