Lines from casework behind the cut line visible in elevation?? HELP!!!

Hi,

I created a kitchen (casework family - so it shouldn't be a problem like the furniture system family). But as shown in the pictures, even though the cut line is not in the casework and faces the island, I see lines from the cabinets behind.

Please, help me!!! I have several kitchens with the same problem and making two different families for the pantry part and the island isn't really an option...

Is this a wireframe or hidden line view? Check please...

Are you using one of those "all in one" families (all the kitchen in one family) ?

@Alfredo_Medina I made both parts in the same family. It isn't a problem usually. It's the first time I face this problem...

try these:

VGO >Model Categories >Casework -expand and choose what subcategories you want to see
check in Family Editor the Visibility settings both for 3d model and for 2d Symbolic Lines
be sure you are not in a Wireframe Mode
publish your family to forum..

Aaaahhh... that's what I was suspecting...

Solution: make simple families that do one thing at a time. A kitchen should not be a family.

Here's the family! I have at least 20 more of them, so that's why it would be a big loss of time to separate the island from the kitchen! Thank you!!!

@Alfredo_Medina It isn't the first time I work with "all in one" kitchen families and it's the first time it happens to me...

Are you concerned about the hidden lines for the shelves in the cabinets, and in the Tiroir family?

They are symbolic lines. You are going to see them in elevation views. To get rid of them, edit the individual families and remove / hide the symbolic lines.

These symbolic lines have always been in these families. And I have to keep them to represent the openings instead of drawing them in all my views with annotation lines in the project. It has never been a problem, but now they appear everywhere. Isn't there a way to show symbolic lines in the Front view but not in the Back view?

All the symbolic lines that you see have been associated with a yes/no parameter.

For the Tiroir - select it in the Cuisine family and scroll down to the bottom of the properties.You can do one of two things -

1) uncheck the parameters shown in my screenshot. This will be a short term fix

2) click the highlighted buttons, so that you can associate these parameters with corresponding parameters in the host family. This will take you to creating new parameters that will associate with these, and you can control them from the host family without having to edit the child family.

Reload the corrected Cuisine family into the Project. Now when you select it, you will be able to control the visibility of these symbolic lines from the Properties.. Good luck!

I tried to create the parameter but when I do it, the symbolic lines also disapear from the good view.

Use model lines for those. There is a misconception about the use of visibility parameters for the both of you but we can get to it later.

Model lines are visible in 3D views but I don't want to see them in 3D. They're just a representation of the openings and the drawers. And even if I decided to hide the model lines in my 3D views, I would need to draw them in all my families. I'm looking for a solution that would hide the symbolic lines behind the elevation cut.

Make sure to associate the parameters from the child to the host family. All the parameters from the child family are instance based, so they must be linked to instance based parameters in the host family. In the project - uncheck the parameter of cabinet that displays incorrectly
