you can delete layers from a linked CAD file. This is semi permanent, when you reload the CAD file, the layers reappear.

when you import a dwg into revit, the visibility settings dialog box controls how the elements in the imported dwg file appear for each view independent of each view. In other words...

link in the cad file

go to Visibility Graphics

go to Imported Categories

expand the plus symbol of the cad file

turn off/change/hide what you want

click OK to get out of this dialog box

the above steps just changed the visibility of the cad content for that current view. If you want this to be applicable to other views...create a view template from this view and apply it to the other views....

right click the current view within Project Browser and choose Create View Templates from View

give it a name

click OK in the dialog box that pops up (twice)

change to a different view

right click that view and choose Apply Template Properties

choose the custom view template you just made...click OK

Did you check Visible layers only option when import the CAD file?

And why Import? Linking is the advisable option - also gives better control under the Revit Links tab of the VG / View Template.

Now after you suggested to check "visible only", i tried it and it acutually slove the problem.

But what cause this issue anyway? i once again mention that the imorted dwg is shown well (meaning, NOT showing the layers i turned off in autocad) on the view (in revit) that i've imported into it. the problem is on all other revit views.

btw - "visible only" option is shown only when importing, not when linking.

Check that option will not import invisible layers (OFF in AutoCAD). They are not brought in, period. So they will not show anywhere.

That also explains why the option is only available for Import, not Link.
