Structural Columns and Wall Graphic Display

Hi Everyone

I have a problem with structural Columns and Walls in Revit.

I know there is some behavior to consider first.

that using a Structural Column will cut its geometry out of and architectural wall.
That if the Structural Column is joined to the wall then you will get thinner Common Edges (if the object styles shave not been setup) between the wall and the Structural Column.
That if this Structural Column geometry is Un-Joined, the graphic display is broken and the user will need to place a brand new column or keep the two elements joined.
That Architectural Columns will take on the material properties of the wall that it is placed into.

I now have a model that is in Revit 2018 where the behaviour is very strange.

A Structural column may or may not cut its geometry out of the wall.
If the column does cut its geometry and another column (same family), either in the same wall or a different one, is placed or dragged or copied. Then the intial column and many others will completely lose the cut geometry graphics.
also, zooming in and out will either display the column correctly or not.

There are no beams overhead or below.

Columns are not joined or attached to floor slabs.

I have drawn new walls and get the same reaction.

Check the files, purged, audited, removed all dwg imports and links,

Checked for any graphic overrides or VG settings

Ungrouped everything

Reset walls to top and bottom constraints.

Revit 2018.2 service pack is installed.

NO LUCK!

Thanks for the input but this is not the behavior that I am experiencing.

My Structural columns behave exactly as per the descriptions and circumstances above BUT!

If a second Structural Column, same family or different, is placed in the same wall, the behavior is either as expected or completely freaks out. If it Doesn't break or freak out, then if either one of the Structural Columns that are in the same wall is edited , moved, copy dragged, rotated then the graphic display 'breaks again.

There is no Join or Unjoin or Cut Geometry tools being used.

Again, this will even happen when a Structural Column is placed or edited in another wall.

I'm having a similar issue. (Revit 2020)

I have a column inside a wall, the column extends higher than the wall, but it doesn't show up in plan.

I can select it, but I cant see it. I'm in wire frame mode.
