How to combine 2 masses together

Hi,

I'm having some problems trying to combine 2 masses together when one is extruded out of the other. If you look at the up loaded picture 1. is the curved "curtain wall" and 2. is the arc. I'm trying to get 1 to fit in to 2 how do i do that any help will be useful thank you.

PS I'm pretty new to Revit.

Edit the original mass and create a void form to trim the form of the curtain wall to match the other.

I am pretty new with revit still so I'm unsure how to do what you suggested.

I'm not understanding what your trying to do. Join masses or join a mass to a curtain wall???

I'm trying to join 2 masses together with out having the extrusions that you see in the picture

That's the thing; a picture isn't clear. It kind of looks like they are joined already.

Sorry, they are not joined instead i just made the arc mass first then the curved panel in a different mass and used reference point to draw the shape that i want in the arc.

You cannot join different masses. The forms must be created within one mass.

But i would not be able to select the parts i want when i want to change the materials cuz the arc is supposed to be precast conc. and the curved panel is supposed to be a curtain wall

The mass is to create the form. Then you create curtain system, walls, roofs by face by picking the mass surfaces. They can have different materials to themselves.

okay another question its how to remove the extruding parts from the curved mass in the picture

Since when? I must be misunderstanding, because I can join two different masses without breaking a sweat.

how do you know whether the masses are joined or not?

Ha! This is exactly what I was talking about. If they have no materials, it's not always apparent by looking at them; hence the reason they looked joined to me already. Anyways, try to pull them apart. If they move together or turn orange and trigger a warning, then they are joined.

So i found out they are joined but how do i remove the extruded parts of the curved panel?

Well that's a bit trickier to describe. I'd need to have the file to figure it out. I'm still not sure what you have done or what you're trying to do. Sounds like your intention is to make a curtain wall from it. I don't think it's going to work the way you think, because you're applying a wall to the FACES of the mass.

This doesn't help without knowing what you're trying to build. Do you have picture or something?
