The generic template was used to create a family. The AutoCAD file containing the 3D solids was imported into this family. The family was saved and inserted into the Revit Project.

In a Revit project we have sections cut through a generic family created using imported AutoCAD files containing solid models of pipes and walls.

When we were working in Revit 2014 we were able to shut off demo layers in section views. Now that we have upgraded to Revit 2018 (and advanced the design substantially) we've discovered that our sections are not displaying correctly.

We can shut demo layers off in plan views but in sections the demo'd pipes can not be turned off.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Not sure what the issue is; Visibility/Graphics or Phasing, but it sounds like some setting is different. Do you have the correct Phase Filter in the view? Is the VG settings for the Imported Categories the same as before? I seen such things happen before, because Temporary view VG settings weren't applied permanently to the view.

There is very little in the drawing aside from the Autocad solids based generic family.

It is basically a utility tunnel. There is a single Revit pipe and the rest is the Autocad based stuff.

Can you use Tab and select the Cad import, then hide layers?

Try creating a new Revit test project. Load the family containing the Cad. Cut a section, try to hide the Cad objects. Does it work?

If not, please post the "test" .rvt and .rfa here.

I'll have to continue to explore this issue after my submittal.
For now we've decided to delete the demo layers from the Autocad Solids and draw the demo'd pipes in as real Revit pipes.

Thanks,

Barry
