thank you for replying,

I want my main file to have the same material for the roof everywhere, right now half is blue, half is black and i want to be able to change them all at once if i need to (in the host file, not in every linked model). This used to work before, now i have to open and edit all the links, its a big waste of time.

Hello,

We have a huge project that is made of ~10 linked revit models. In all the linked models there is a glass roof that has the same material appearance and name in each file ( Roof_Glass 01). The glass was blue at first and we changed it to black. When i change Roof_Glass 01 to black in the host file, the glass is still blue ! but if i go in every linked file and change it to black, save it, it will finally appear black in the host file but it takes me 10x more time to do one simple task usually... can someone help me figure out how to override materials with the host file ?

Thank you very much.

I don't think you can. The linked model is just a link - it is not imported.

You could try to use Transfer Project Standards to copy/replace the glass material from the "good model" to the models which have an incorrect glass material.

Since you are trying to change links directly from the host file, take a look at this new fresh thread.

@Anonymous wrote:

can someone help me figure out how to override materials with the host file ?

For Revit links, you cannot override the materials in the host project unless you physically update the linked file material. The linked file material definitions and assignments will determine the material appearance in the host project. If you need to transfer Revit materials between projects use Manage > Transfer Project Standards > Materials.
