Creating an octagonal skylight

This is what I need to create. The skylight sits on a wall 1'-0" high. The footprint is octagonal.

I am trying to start with a mass, so that I can create curtain walls by face. How do I create the mass? Or is there a better way out?

Octagonal? Looks like 10 sides (Decagonal).

Why not apply Sloped Glazing to a Decagonal Mass?

That too, @barthbradley. Generating the octagonal mass is the problem here. Idiot-proof directions, please.

Place a Decagon on 1 level and another smaller Decagon on another level directly above it, select both Decagons and Create Form.

That looks like an Octagon but a couple of faces are splitted.

But @barthbradley, what I want is an octagonal pyramid with a pointy end. What you suggest is a truncated octagonal pyramid (ie no pointy end). Please elucidate for my education and edification- even though Roof By Footprint has already granted all the wishes of my little heart.

Draw it as a roof by footprint and change it to sloped glazing type. I see you have mentioned it so I am surprise you needed to ask.

for a Mass, you can, also use, if the edge are equal, a sweep : a Profile - a trapezoid shape place in the center , and a path that consists of the base an eight sides figure

What??? You can create, as I described, with the smallest "pencil point" you want. 1/32" tolerance in Revit. Anything smaller, you need a physicist.

this method (sweep triangle in this case ) allows Pyramids

@constantin.stroescu - maybe I'm missing something - when I tried to sweep a triangular profile for a Generic model in place, Revit gave me a very very rude response saying something about intersecting geometries - hence the questions....

@ToanDN - I posted the question before finding a solution. A simple case of Think Before You Click.

I used Conceptual Mass not Component Model In Place.....Even in Mass Editor the word sweep does not appear, in fact that is a sweep...isn't it?

It works also with Component Model in Place , but you have first to create a vertical called Reference Plane through the center of the octogon and use that plane to place the shape....

Also @barthbradley - I followed your way very successfully too - with a teeny-teeny circle at the upper level.

Aaahh, the wonders of Revit!
