Hi @Anonymous,

Open the model(base model) in which you want to copy the levels, and link the model which has all the levels you want to copy. Copy the levels to the base model using copy monitor option. Then create the views for copied levels from view menu. unlink the model and open both models in same window and copy paste the elements using clipboard. if you found any missing of elements then group all elements and use clipboard.

Else, link and bind after copied the levels.

Do let me know if you want any detailed information.

Thanks.

I have been looking around and can not find a way to effectively copy views- specifically floor plans, if anyone had any ideas on how to do this it would be great.

note: i have tried the 'insert views from file' way and that does not work for what i am doing, i could be doing it wrong but many attempts resulted in nothing....

https://gyazo.com/ab02d397a38e052f920002ae676c6c40

https://gyazo.com/17aeb1837d8200c6c690f05873aaec84

Thanks.

@Anonymous wrote:

I have been looking around and can not find a way to effectively copy views- specifically floor plans,

There is not really a way to do this. A view is really a slice of the model, so you would not be just inserting the floor plan view, but placing all of the model geometry in the new file.

What exactly are you doing or attempting to do? Why are you trying to put a floor plan from one project into another project?

Or are you just trying to make a 2nd floor plan in a project for some other purpose (i.e. furniture layout plan and a construction plan of the same building?)

If you are just trying to get a 2nd floor plan of the same floor in the same project you can do that by right clicking the plan in the project browser. Then choose "Duplicate" or "Duplicate with Detailing". Duplicate takes the exact floor plan and strips off all view specific (detail and annotation) elements. Duplicate with Detailing makes an exact copy of the original plan view.

I think PrathapSekar gets you half way there, I'm making the assumption you don't want to copy the elements just simply want to have a separate model file seeing the 'views' from a linked model.

Create the levels as PrathapSekar has advised (copy monitor is perfect for this to ensure the names and levles are the same)

Link the model with the geometry and view that you wish to 'see'.

If you have used scope boxes then you'll need to ensure you have copied these so the views are in the orientation you have already set up.

The on the matching associated level choose the visibility settings to set the link model to 'by linked view', you will need to set the correct scale, detail level etc, and may wish to use a view template for this.

You should now see the view as you see it in the link file, with annotation etc.
