square, spiral stair case

I'm trying to build a square, spiral staircase. How could I go about doing this?

Interesting. I never tried that. I don't think so. You may need to do the railing separately. But do the treads as a spiral.

Yeah, I now see that your treads are not the same throughout the run. Looks like a fun challenge though. Enjoy!

...BTW: have you tried finding it on-line? Some spiral stair manufacturers have Revit content.

Yeah, it errors out if drawn manually... I'd model it as an "in place" since we can now assign them as stairs.

start the stair by component [ full step spiral ]. If you are satisfied that the run has the numbers of risers required, and starts and ends where you want, convert the run to sketch based and edit the outer boundary to your design extending / trimming the risers to the new boundary.

I used this method too and it works well - the condition is to have under 360 grades run

You can do it by sketch, like this:

1) draw the boundary lines (exterior boundary is kind of a U shape, and the interior is a small circle. (green lines shown below)

2) draw the risers. I did one every 18 degrees. The risers need to be trimmed by the two boundaries.

3) draw the path as an arc.

Finish the sketch.

This is a great workaround for smaller (less than 360°) square staircase, but what happens when the square spiral staircase continues for more than 360°, you can not make the sketch lines overlap.

Create different runs, each is 360 degree or less. The convert the runs to sketch and edit them.

Below is an example of an overlapping stair.
