Load Into Project & Close - Not Working

I edited a titleblock for a sheet, clicked load into project & close, clicked 'yes' to make editable, and I get this error message:

I know for a fact that nobody else is editing them because I'm the only one in the office that uses Revit. I tried to edit it 10 mins earlier and it said that it couldn't be loaded because it had been deleted from the central model; I knew that wasn't correct either, so I closed Revit and tried it again, and this time it gave me this error. What is going on?

Not sure. Worst case, just save the project as a new central file and load the family in.

Hi @ben

Please try the following steps for me and let me know if this helps with your issue:

Open the central file directly with Audit checked
Once the file is opened, Purge all unused items
Use Save As to save the file on top of the old version
Relinquish all ownership for all Revit files - host and linked
Close Revit
Clear the Windows temp directory. To do so, launch a new Windows Explorer dialog and enter %temp% as the address. Delete as many files as possible from this folder (some may not be able to be deleted)
Move the local file backups to a new location
Create new local files
Check if you still receive this error

Had a similar issue on two projects, one of which was on BIM360 Collaboration, so it is not as easy to make the new central.

I created a titleblock family for our engineers to use. When they loaded it into their model, they received an error that I was editing elements in the file and that I needed to relinquish elements. I was not working in their project files. Workset dialogue indicated that I was editing the titleblock family and shared parameters. This happened on multiple projects with 2 different consultants. I thought it was a BIM360 thing... but heard from another user of a similar occurrence on a project not in the cloud.

I ended up opening each of the files and relinquishing all ownership.
