hi muggles

I'm wokring with a 3D family (sprinkler) that has a Detail component nested only for visibility purposes on Floor Plan.
I've sprinklers on both: a flat roof and a sloped one:

Sprinklers are all placed on the face of a surface meaning they're perpendicular to the roof plane. If roof is horizontal Floor plan visibility works ok. However, if roof is sloped I can only see the detail item if the spinkler is hosted on an horizontal plane as I show below:

If the sprinkler is placed on the sloped roof surface the detail item will now show on Floor plan:

This is logic, since the workplane of the detail item is not paralell to the flor and therefore the floor plan.

Any turnaroud for this? I would like to work with detail item visibility within 3D families and not relying on ther host plane slope.

Thanks!

You would have to place the detail component on a reference plane that you can tilt up and down in the project environment to make it always horizontal regardless of the host. Easier said than done.

The other way around is keeping the detail horizontal and tilting the model element.

Hi,

can you please tell me how you did it? Did you create ref plane in family with angle parameter and then attach detail item to 3D family and then from project set the angle yo needed? Or did you have 3D family in main project(this family you attach to sloped surface) and then 2D family (detail item) alone in main project which you draw on the top of 3D family? When i create ref. plane and then i set to this ref plane detail item and want to rotate plane revit show error: Symbolic Element refers to a Work Plane with unacceptable normal.

Thanks

Best wishes
