... hi @Anonymous

… there is a combination of solutions for that

…. Solution one – if the design is only going to be visible in plan view

…. You can draw it using filled regions and some lines

…. You can create two different square filled regions and apply those as per request/desire/necessity/design

…. Solution two – if you are going to show it in 3d view or you are going to render it

…. you can create a floor based family

… if you are going to use it more than once you can go constrained and parametric and etc…

… if it is only for this project you can create a component family and repeat it several times

… Solution three

… based on your picture – looking at one door - I’m assuming that the dimension of the square is .500 * .500 cms

… attached is the square carpet .rfa

Instead of using a generic model for every tile, you can create a sloped glazing roof, make it not sloped, make the 500x500 division or whatever the module of the carpet tile is, then change the panels to different types with the carpet materials. You can make it any shapes too.

@Anonymous: I'll bet you're an Interior Designer. This LOD is not usually depicted on Architectural Plans.

If you are showing a specific Manufacturer's carpet, you may have success finding Revit content for that carpet from the carpet's Manufacturer. Many define material - including graphic and rendering appearance properties using hatch patterns and image swatches of their carpets.

NBS is also a good source to find carpet and flooring manufacturers' Revit content.

Yes.

- Draw a roof, pick the Sloped glazing type down the bottom of the Roof type list. Then modify the type properties as I've shown.

- Keep the default panel of the roof type as None (I showed it as CPT1 but None is more flexible to change panel types).

- Go to the Project Browser > Families > Curtain Panels > System panel: right click on Solid and duplicate to create a new type, change its thickness and material to a carpet type 1.

- Repeat to create the panel carpet type 2.

- Go back to your model, select a bunch of panels and change their type to carpet type 1 or 2.

- When the room changes, just edit the foorprint, you can even lock the footprint to the walls if you want. You can copy a roof to a different room and change the footprint to match.

- Create a curtain mullion profile the width of the gap, shorter than the panel thickness, and assign it to the roof type. Then you will have the gap.

- You can hide all mullions of the roof if you want but may not be necessary.

Do you know why it does it and if it can be avoid it?

A second question is, what method would it be if I had to choose to model a floor based family like that, for both floorplan and 3D. If there are multiple types of tiles, I guess they would need to be nested inside the parent carpet family? The perimeter tiles would have to be manually adjusted by cutting each tile?

If I use reference planes for each nested tiles, will I have at least the 2d/3d handles inside the parent family to cut the tiles?

Actually I think using nested tiles is way too complicated. Probably the easiest way is to manually place each tile as a floor family with 2D shape handles.

Thanks !
