Door symbols only in overview Plans

I am trying to make some symbols display by Door Planes (like which kind of knob or lock).

We have a colors and symbols system and I would be able to create those als Details as Filled Regions and then nest them in the Door familiy (maybe there is a better solution).

But I have the Problem that I can't control the visibility properly (I can't assign them to a Subcategorie). I have them in all the views or in any.

.... you can create a family with the details and nest it into every family you want

Can you share the family?

The orange and pink parameters control the color of the upper and lower lines (they were built as Line Based Details in order to be able to connect them to the width of the door). I have made different Family Types, and it is possible to select them from the list.

The green is another approach (I founded it easier in some cases, still testing advantages and disadvantages), in that case I use nested parameter, but same problem at the end. (I made a nested Tag with a text that was supposed to be visible, and it isn't but that is a different question).

In either case can I control how to make it visible just in one view but not in others. No subcategory, no way to filter them...

Are you referring to Object Style Subcategories? Are you using this procedure?

An easiest way is set them to only show in Coarse and set the views where you don't want to show them to Medium or Fine.

Another way is nest the detail family in a Generic Model family, associate the parameters, make the Generic shared. Then nest the Generic family in the door family and get rid of the Detail family that you have. Since the nested Generic family is shared, you can create view filter in Project by some criteria unique to that family.

I did though about it, but:

1. Some of the symbols have a defined side or direction. (with Tags I can't tell in which side of the door)
2. I can't control the width of the line (not so relevant)

Is there a way to solve the number 1? How does the tag know in which side it is?

Yes, but they are Filled Regions and I can't find a way to assign a Subcategory to them.

That with Coarse should make the trick, but I am not sure if I can avoid to use the coarse style in any other view.

I would like to give a try to the nested-in-generic system. Actually was thinking about how to get rid of all the formulas that I will have to make in background but that I don't need the user to see. I also had to test if I can then use the same family for all my doors.

I hope I have time to test it in the next days!

If you need coarse for other views, just make the doors category to medium or fine.
