This company created this overhead door family, I've been trying to figure it out for days but for some reason the Width/Height/thickness will not properly show up on my schedule. Those three parameters don't appear to be standard.

Anyone car to take a quick look

The Parameters for "Opening Width" and "Opening Height" are already Shared Parameters, and do show up as an available Parameter field in Project Schedules. The reason the family is not using the built-in Parameters for Width and Height, is because those 2 parameters are Type Parameters. The family is driven by Instance Parameters. Can't use the "Width" and "Height" parameter. So, they've been replaced: "Opening Width" = "Width", and "Opening Height" = "Height"

TIP: If you want to share these 2 Shared Parameters with other families you have, Export these Shared Parameter to your own Shared Parameter Text File.

Bummer. Care to share? I'm Revit-impaired at the moment. How did you do your magic trick? Smoke? Mirrors? Both?

...Ah, let me guess: temporary category change! Right?

...to change Width and Height to Instance

...then Width formula =Overall Width, Height formula = Overall Height

...then recategorize to Door

how'd I do?

No category change. I simply changed the built-in Width and Height from type to instance then give the formula.

Forgot about that workaround.

Well, in that case: I would suggest that the formulas be flip-flopped then . Make the formula for "Opening Width" = "Width" and the formula for "Opening Height" = "Height". Keep the all door families consistent to avoid confusion; which is what started this thread in the first place: confusion.

Wouldn't you agree?
