i have all my structural framing family material cut pattern the same (dark gray). my wall patterns are set to a light gray. when the two interact the wall seems to take precedence. how do i get the structural framing family to be the dominate item in the section? attached are PDF's of examples for the above.

still having trouble with the join/ switch join. I selected the switch join then selected the wall. I am still unable to select the structural framing member (family). I am attaching a file that has my condition for a better understanding. I have cut a section through the condition so you can see what I am describing.

See attached.

Edit the beam family and set the 3D geometry to be visible for all detail levels: Coarse, Medium, Fine, then you will be able to join them with the wall.

so this technique has worked for the most part. thank you. i am having some issues when i apply this technique to beams and walls in sections. i get the beam to show through but the outer/boundary line of the beam disappears. i am including a screen shot of what i am describing.
