Glass in Elevation View

Hi guys and girls,

I'm currently completing a set of plans for a client and have finally decided to ask about an issue that I have been having for quite some time now. I have an insitu shower family with a glass shower screen and I cant for the life of me get the screen to appear as transparent in the internal elevation view so I can see the tapware beyond.

The shower screen is an extrusion in the shower family and I have assigned glass as the material. I have also transferred project standards from project to family and vice versa to make sure that everything is on the same page. I've also changed the extrusion from a solid to a void but when I do this it eliminates the screen from plan view.

My current work around is to change the extrusion to not be visible from the front/back and left/right and then use model lines to be just visible in front/back and left/right. This appears fine but I use revit so I don't 'fudge' stuff with linework and I lose sleep over things like this.

I've tried it as plumbing fixture, casework as well as generic model. I've also tried to insert the screen as a nested family.

Is the elevation view the same Phase the shower was created in?

Yes everything in the entire job is created in new construction. The phase filter is "show all".

Just suggesting a work around till someone gives you the real solution you looking for...

I would try to keep those glass in a selection and give a transparency in filter..

Following example of wall and tub behind.. that wall can be a " shower cubicle " family ..

and tapware in your case..

1. Filter 2. Graphics option transparency.

Create the glass panel as nested family so that you can TAB-select or filter-select it and override graphics to transparent.

Or instead of using a 2D elevation view, use a 3D elevation view.
