Hi Autodesk Team!

We are very worried and disappointed with using toposolids in Revit 2025. Despite numerous improvements in the workflow, we see that only around 500 control points are considered in the toposolids. That reduced number of points modifies the input topography and makes the topography very unrealistic. And that is trouble! We need that the toposolids can handle far more control points, like the toposurface did. On large sites we previously had 50 000 points.

It turns out that only the creation (and migration from toposurface) is limited to 500 points, but possible to edit/recreate with a large ammounts of points after.

It is well-known now, for the real users (not the forum bots from Autodesk that only ask to press the solution button),

seriously, slip the Topo? Who are you kidding?

that TopoSolid is completely bugged and useless, and horribily slow, and crashes every time.

So, the only solution for now is to stay with Revit 2022 or 2023 before TopoSolid, or as suggested elsewhere, make the site in 2022 and then import it into 2025 as a linked project.

2026 does not seem to debug the 'TopoSolid experimentation'

Hello @luisPDAN6

Thank you for your post and discussion on the idea. The mentioned Point Threshold has been improved in R2026.

Points Threshold

Two settings in the Revit.ini file control the number of points used on toposolids in your models.

LinkToposolidMaxPointThreshold - Used when linking topograpghy to your model.

NativeToposolidMaxPointThreshold - Used when creating toposolid elements from imported DWGs or text files.

Set the values for these in the Revit.ini file. The valid range is from 10,000 - 50,000. The larger number of points used to create toposolid elements will result in more accurate representation but may impact the performance when editing toposolids and/or when navigating the model. The default for both settings is 20,000 points.

If you change the value of a setting in the Revit.ini file, the setting will be applied to toposolids created after the change was made. Toposolids created prior to the change will not be affected.

For additional information, see About the Revit.ini File and Misc Settings in Revit.ini.
